Introduction to chords

Let us learn some chords now. The best thing to do is to take few simple chords that are easy to switch. We will work on chord shifting between each of the chords taking one unique pair at a time. Take your time don’t rush. (Let us chase perfection, not speed). Once you can manage to switch in time, speed will automatically come

 

A metronome is a device that produces beats and practicing with a metronome helps you to develop good sense of rhythm. The tempo is denoted by beats per minute (B.P.M). You can vary the tempo by changing the B.P.M.

 

Introduction to strumming

Let’s start with only down strokes. While strumming make sure you count the
beats in rhythm like 1 2 3 4.

Introduction to chord progressions

A chord progression is a sequence of chords played in a particular order in a loop.
We will learn a few chord progressions using the chords we already learned. After mastering these progressions you can create your progression with these chords.

Bar or Measure

Music is normally divided into equal time lengths called bars , each consisting of same number of beats. Here we are taking 4 beats per bar thus we play each chord one bar.

The E, A and B chords

Let’s learn three more easy major chords now.

Guitar lessons for beginners – Part 3 – Lesson 2b

Chromatic exercise

If you want to play your favorite songs properly or want to learn guitar quickly then there is no substitute to the chromatic exercises. In a lay man’s term a chromatic exercise uses all notes on the guitar and compels you to use all 4 fingers. These exercises help you to build speed, stamina, strength and dexterity while improving left and right hand co-ordination. Start at a slow tempo.

Movable Chromatic

Move the notes by one fret after the completion of forward and reverse in one position.

Open Position C major Scale

The scale shape we learned before was C major scale. Start From C and end in C to get the sound of C major scale.

Guitar lesson for beginners – Part 2 –  Video Lesson 1

Posture & Plectrum holding

When it comes to playing a musical instrument, it is very important to find the correct posture. You need to be relaxed while playing thus the posture should be very comfortable. This same concept applies for plectrum holding too.

How to read fret board or neck diagrams

There are two representations
i. Vertical View
ii. Horizontal View.
In this course we will be following the horizontal view only.
In the above picture we can see the horizontal view. Here the guitar is drawn upside down. It’s simple to visualize, just hold the guitar as if you are playing and then lay it down on your lap and put a copy on the strings and draw the string on the page. Now you see the 6th string is at the bottom of the page and the 1st string is at the top, giving it an upside down look.

Alternate Picking

When we play an upstroke followed by a down stroke or vice versa it’s called alternate picking. Let us get started with some exercises.

Guitar Lessons for Beginners – Guitar From Scratch – Introduction

Hello,
This is Tamal and I welcome you the world of guitar playing with a little patience and dedication if you follow this course then surely you will be able to play your favorite songs which are moderate in difficulty level. I have created this Guitar Lessons for Beginners based on my experience of the lessons that helped the students to learn easily .

The central idea of this course is to make guitar learning an enjoyable experience like a hobby, thus this course is suitable for any age group between 4 – 80 years. In this course we concentrate more on the playing aspect rather than the theories that mostly scare the beginners away. Tuning

Beginners don’t have their ears developed and since this is Guitar Lessons for Beginners so it’s recommended that they should use an app or a hardware ( Guitar Tuner, scroll down for recommendation). This diagram shows how to tune up a guitar a guitar by ear using the same note on consecutive strings.

How to read Tab Notations (Guitar Lessons for Beginners)

Tabulature or tab in short, is a form of musical notation used to write music. It indicates the fingering only not the time.

The lines represent the string (the bottom string is the 6th string or the low E and the top string is the 1st string or high E)
The numbers on the lines represent the frets on respective strings to be played
